Kia Motors Corp. announced last week its global sales figures (export sales, domestic sales and sales from overseas plants) for passenger cars, recreational vehicles and commercial vehicles for April 2014, recording a total of 251,120 units sold. This figure represents a 4.9-percent year-on-year increase.
Kia Motors is exclusively distributed in the Philippines by Columbian Autocar Corp.
In April, Kia posted year-on-year sales increases in China, North America and General Markets of 12 percent (54,298 units sold), 10.8 percent (61,084 units sold) and 4.9 percent (44,186 units sold), respectively.
Cumulatively, through the first four months of 2014, Kia’s global sales have increased by 5.1 percent year-on-year to reach 938,345 units. China, North America, General Markets and Europe have experienced cumulative gains to date in 2014 of 12.7 percent (217,656 units sold), 6.4 percent (208,240 units sold), 3.4 percent (171,637 units sold) and 2.7 percent (193,802 units sold), respectively.
Kia’s best-selling model in overseas markets for the month of April was the B-segment Rio (known as K2 in China) with 41,427 units sold. The C-segment Cerato was the second best-seller with 39,067 units delivered, while the Sportage compact CUV, Optima D-segment sedan and Soul urban crossover followed with 35,003, 23,077 and 19,009 units sold, respectively.
