A Southbound inner lane of the Skyway road system’s at-grade section was closed to vehicular traffic for the 24-hour rehabilitation work on the major thoroughfare.
The Las Piñas-Muntinlupa District Engineering Office of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is currently retrofitting the columns and beams of the Sucat Interchange Bridge.
The northbound inner lane is closed only when equipment enters or leaves the work site and when debris is collected.
After the repair of the bridge’s columns and beams is completed in two months, the DPWH will redeck the east- and west-bound lanes of Sucat Interchange Bridge in five months, or even less. Redecking involves the removal of the old asphalt pavement, retrofitting the deck slab, asphalt overlay and the painting of road markers.
During the five-month re-decking schedule, only one lane (of five) at a time will be re-decked to minimize queuing up on the Sucat interchange.
The repair work is expected to strengthen the structural stability and prolong the life of the road facility to ensure the safety of motorists.
Skyway System operator, Skyway O&M Corporation, is on hand to guide and assist motorists, direct and control traffic and attend to any contingency.
Motorists may call the Skyway hotline at 7767777 for any request for assistance or to report any road mishap or related activities on the Skyway.
