Powering to top Subic locations and back with Shell V-Power Nitro+ Diesel

Nature and poetry don’t always figure in a motoring event, and hardly do the two ever go together. But that’s one of the unusual, exciting aspects of the Shell V-Power Nitro+ Diesel drive to Subic.

Pilipinas Shell recently invited a group of motoring writers to experience the smooth power of its premium diesel fuel on a day-long drive from Bonifacio Global City to Subic Bay and back. With the fuel tanks of Mitsubishi Monteros and Stradas  filled with Shell’s finest, the group, assigned to different teams, made its way along the smooth, northern highways to Subic Bay. Within Subic, each team gathered several elements in locations around the area, from the inviting Anvaya Cove to the serene Kamana Sanctuary resort.

The drive is part of the celebration of 100 years of Shell Companies in the Philippines  and is a way to introduce their new high-performance fuels. Discovering diverse cultures and different environments within the country is one of Shell’s themes for its anniversary.

Shell’s new fuels, including V-Power Nitro+ and V-Power Nitro+ Diesel, aim to provide cleaner energy and better performance, particularly for the latest cars and trucks.

“As we continue to celebrate 100 years of Shell companies in the country, we constantly strive to provide quality products like Shell V-Power Nitro+, our fast-acting performance range of fuels, designed to boost engine performance and give Filipino motorists a unique and worthwhile experience on the road. We are searching for the different elements that make up an exciting drive in the Philippines to come up with a unique formula for excitement fueled by Shell V-Power Nitro+,” said Oying Yam, Pilipinas Shell vice president for retail.

The high point of the activity was to retell the event by means of a collage. The team of Alvin Uy, Aris Ilagan and Angel Rivero opted to go graphic—a graphic novel, that is. Their montage included zombie invasions and a three diamond-badged Voltes V  robot. For us, it was a chance for the writers to release their inner Shakespeares and Jackson Pollocks. Brian Afuang obliged for the latter role, while Vince Pornelos composed the following ode to Shell:

Tally ho, dear friends

Let’s get on with our route

We’ve got music, snacks, drinks

And even some fruit

Onward we go in the new Montero Sport

There’s space for family, friends,

For any beach or resort

Experience diesel with both cleaning and speed

As we blast the highway in this faithful steed

Excited as we are, there is no need to rush
