Land Rover Philippines (LRPhils) Motors Inc., the official importer-distributor of Land Rover vehicles in the Philippines, unveiled the all-new Range Rover Sport last June 17 in its Land Rover Activity Center and showroom at  32nd and 4th Crescent Park West, Bonifacio Global City.

The new-generation Range Rover Sport looked like it went to the gym, shed some 420 kilograms of curb weight, and came out looking and feeling lean with a business suit, promising the best-ever, on-road dynamics together with the class-leading, all-terrain capability the Land Rover is known for.

Although this current model Range Rover Sport retains the distinctive DNA of its predecessor, LRPhils considers this latest Range Rover variant as the fastest, most agile and responsive Land Rover ever. This dynamic new Range Rover Sport features a bolder and more muscular exterior design that comes well with its improved and dynamic driving performance. Thanks to its sleeker and wind-cutting windshield angle, streamlined profile and sloping roofline, the new Sport is 8 percent more aerodynamic than the previous model, with a drag coefficient of Cd 0.34. This new, technology-packed Range Rover Sport also offers a more luxurious interior with the seating flexibility of an occasional five-plus-two seating.

THIS IS touted as the fastest, most agile and most responsive Rover ever.

The Sport sits on top of the three-model collection of the Range Rover series, along with the Evoque and the standard Range Rover variant.

“Designed and engineered without compromise, the all-new Range Rover Sport embodies the innovative spirit that the brand is known for. With Land Rover capability at its heart, the breadth of capability of this vehicle makes it the clear leader in its class on road and off road,” said Marc Soong, executive director of LRPhils.

Lightweight, dynamic

This Range Rover’s new lightweight, fully independent suspension and innovative dynamic chassis design and technology give the Sport’s all-new, first-in-class aluminum architecture a significant weight loss of up to 420 kg, and allow it to be more agile and to live up to its sporting driving and handling dynamics. Its wide-spaced double-wishbone design for the front suspension and advanced multilink layout at the rear offer a versatile platform for onroad and offroad driving. Its lighter chassis also gives a greener carbon footprint, with carbon dioxide emissions reduced to as much as 194 grams per kilometer.

Currently, it has four engine variants: two supercharged petrol engines (the 5-liter,  503.01-horsepower  V8 and the new 3-liter,  335.34-HP V6) and two diesel engines (the 3-liter,  288-HP SDV6 and the 4.4-liter,  334.36-HP SDV8).

“The new Range Rover Sport is the ultimate luxury SUV; a new Range Rover Sport for a new era. It is relevant, sustainable and utterly desirable. Alongside the all-new Range Rover and the Range Rover Evoque, the new Range Rover Sport represents the third distinct product in Land Rover’s product revolution, firmly establishing it as a powerhouse British brand, with exceptional design at its core,” said Gerry McGovern, Land Rover design director and chief creative officer.
