Monday morning traffic is one of the most dreaded aspects of living in Metro Manila. Many motorists and commuters adjust for the added traffic as they commence their weekly grind. But this Monday no amount of adjustment could have compensated for the heavy traffic caused by a road accident in one of the country’s major thoroughfares and heavy rains in the morning and the afternoon.
On Monday morning, an eight-vehicle pileup on Circumferential Road 5 (C5) in Makati City snarled traffic in most parts of Makati, Pasig, Mandaluyong City, Pasay City and Quezon City. This, in turn, also clogged traffic on EDSA and other thoroughfares. Commuters, however, did not get a break in the afternoon and evening as heavy rains and flooding induced widespread traffic. Making things worse, both instances happened during the rush hour.
Netizens took to social media to vent their frustration over the unbearable metro traffic congestion.
