Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has announced that it has broken Philippine auto industry sales records by selling 10,123 units in a single month in July 2014. The record-breaking sales figure followed its 9000-unit sales performance in May. This is reportedly the first time for a Philippine car manufacturer to breach the 10,000 sales mark.
TMP’s July 2014 sales grew by 65% from the previous July. The company recorded strong demand for the Vios, the country’s number one passenger car, and the Innova MPV. Vios sold 2480 units and Innova 1614 units, the highest recorded sales by the Philippine-assembled models.
Other top-selling Toyota models include the Wigo hatchback with 935 units, the Hiace utility van with 1280 units and the nine-year old Fortuner SUV still going strong at 1350 units. On a year to date basis, Toyota Motor Philippines registers a substantial growth of 43% versus the first 7 months of last year with accumulated sales of 58, 635 as of July 2014.
In a statement, TMP President Mr. Michinobu Sugata said, “We at Toyota Motor Philippines would like to extend our sincerest appreciation to our customers for making Toyota their preferred choice of vehicle. We are pleased by the continuous support and belief they have shown leading to this sales milestone. Ultimately, this would not be possible without them.”
He added, “Achieving more than 10,000 units in a single month is indeed a leap forward coming from a 9,000 unit sales level last May. We see this feat as another motivation to our team to constantly find ways in serving our customers and partners even better.”
