Stockholm, Sweden-Volvo has launched the all-new XC90 SUV, billed as the world’s most powerful and cleanest-running SUV. The XC90 features all-wheel drive and seven seats. The car will boast of 400 hp and a robust 640 Nm from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder supercharged engine. For the hybrid model, dubbed ‘Twin Engine’ with a ‘T8’ badge, electric motors drive the rear wheels. The car can drive on electric power alone, for up to 40km. The XC90 features T-shaped LED running lights, dubbed “Thor’s hammer” by the design team.
XC90 is built on Volvo’s new modular chassis, expected to be the basis of a new range of models. The company, now owned by Geely Motors of China, spent a reported $11 billion on the new platform. The car will initially be produced in Sweden.
