MANILA, Philippines–Pilipinas Hino Inc. (PHI) is seeking a wider engagement with Philippine-based enterprises so they can experience the durability and reliability of its line of trucks and buses, including the recently released Dutro series, in time for the company’s 40th anniversary celebration in 2015 anchored on the campaign “Stronger @ 40.”
In pursuit of its goal to become a significant contributor to the country’s logistics sector, PHI introduced in the market its light-duty Dutro trucks that particularly cater to micro, small and medium enterprises or MSMEs.
Dutro runs on a four-cylinder, diesel-powered engine and has ladder-shaped, channel-section side rails for its chassis frames, as well as a six-stud JIS-type disc wheels perfect for long-distance travels.
Dutro standard chassis units have 100-liter fuel-tank capacity each, and can run as fast as 122 kilometers per hour.
“The Dutro light-duty trucks are fit for deliveries of small food catering businesses, small courier companies, and for transporting products, raw materials and work force,” said Vicente Mills, PHI president. “As our big trucks and buses have helped move the Philippine economy and the Filipino people, our Dutro trucks will have a significant impact on making small and medium enterprises become competitive as well.”
Lifetime value
PHI noted that the Dutro line, as well as other Hino trucks and buses, is “a smart investment” for businesses with its tested durability that translates to “lifetime value.”
“The Dutro is a smart investment as it is a tested partner of MSMEs in various industries such as for transportation, mining and construction. Dutro, as well as the Hino trucks in general, lived up to its ‘lifetime value’ tagline since its first truck hit the road in 1975,” Mills added. “Hino is part of the progress of the Philippines and we are proud to do more in our coming 40th anniversary next year.”
Aside from its durability, Hino trucks and buses can also be customized depending on clients’ preference and types of industries and institutions (i.e., fire trucks, mobile clinic vans, hospital buses, prisoner buses, refrigerated vans, X-ray vans, etc.). PHI’s product portfolio includes light- to heavy-duty trucks (300 Series, 500 Series and 700 Series) and standard bus chassis units.
With the durability of Hino trucks and buses, the company sees another strong 40 years on the back of the continuous growth of the Philippine economy, particularly in the construction and logistics sector,” Mills said.
Joint venture
Formed as a joint venture between Filipino investors, Hino Motors Ltd. and Japan-based Marubeni Corp., PHI has been assembling and distributing resilient and reliable trucks and bus chassis since 1975.
The auto dealer has been assembling its trucks and bus chassis under the Progressive Truck Manufacturing Program, a government initiative that aimed to increase local content in commercial vehicle production.
Aside from manufacturing and assembling trucks and buses, PHI also offers product customization according to the clients’ preference, and provides maintenance, repair and refurbishing services for buyers of Hino trucks and buses.
From its first factory in Valenzuela, PHI is now operating a “state-of-the-art” manufacturing facility in Canlubang Industrial Estate, Laguna, where Hino truck, bus and utility vehicle units and bodies are carefully made to perfection.
