MANILA, Philippines–With the 355 units sold in September combining with the 607 units sold in July and September, Mazda Philippines—under the management of Berjaya Auto Philippines (BAP)—recently announced that it achieved its best sales quarter, a record for the Japanese automotive brand here in the country.
In fact, what the company sold from January to September this year has already surpassed last year’s full year total by as much as 49 percent.
“Mazda’s growing sales numbers is a reflection of BAP’s commitment to the brand and its loyal customers. Seeing how strong the demand is for our SkyActiv technology and Kodo-designed vehicles, we are even more devoted to bring in the latest brand new Mazda units on the road so that more people can enjoy Mazda’s Zoom-Zoom spirit,” said BAP president and CEO Steven Tan.
SkyActiv is a technology cluster that includes improved engines and transmissions, sleeker external designs and “lightweighting” of structural components that bring substantial fuel-economy, safety and other benefits to Mazda’s current and upcoming generation of vehicles.
Assertive, provocative
Kodo, on the other hand, is Mazda’s latest design language that is described as an expression of natural energy, giving each Mazda vehicle a more assertive and provocative presence (an example is the Kodo-style grille that is like a five-pointed shield, giving the Mazda vehicle a stronger, more aggressive look).
The latest and most advanced generation of Mazda vehicles arrived last year with the launch of the new Mazda6 executive sedan, which was followed a few weeks later by the CX5 AWD Sport and CX5 PRO crossovers. Just recently, the all-new Mazda3 compact car was introduced.
The arrival of the new models came right after BAP officially begins its business operations in the country (as the sole distributor of Mazda vehicles, parts and accessories) in January 2013.
The current product lineup of Mazda Philippines includes the Mazda2 subcompact sedan and hatchback (the company’s bestseller), the recently launched all-new Mazda3 SkyActiv compact sedan and hatchback, the Mazda6 executive sedan, the CX-5 compact SUV, the CX-9 seven-seater SUV, the MX-5 two-seater sports roadster and the BT-50 pickup truck.
“The Mazda2 subcompact, which was first launched in 2010 and refreshed in 2012, continues to be an exceptionally strong performer as it registers its second highest ever-monthly sales record just this September, despite having only the 1.3-liter hatchback and sedan available on sale,” Tan said.
Tan added that the company is now planning to strengthen its Mazda sales and service dealerships nationwide. Currently, there are 15 and are located (in Metro Manila) Greenhills along Edsa, Quezon Avenue and North Edsa in Quezon City, Pasig along C5, Alabang (provincial locations) Pampanga, Dagupan, Cabanatuan, Batangas, Cebu, Cagayan de Oro, Tarlac, Cavite, Iloilo and Davao.
