Right place, right time. Bearing in mind the kind of market it caters to, every Porsche launch is highly anticipated, and there is no doubt the German brand knows when and where to showcase its new editions.

With the yearend approaching, it was not just the best time for those who made a lot of money—especially for American Porschepiles—to count one’s blessings but also to check out the newest sports cars coming out of the Porsche factory in Ingolstadt, Germany, with the world premiere of the 911 Carrera GTS and Cayenne GTS taking the Los Angeles Auto Show 2014 by storm at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Why Porsche chose to unveil the GTS variants of the 911 and the Cayenne—with the limited edition Panamera Turbo S Executive as a sweetener—in Los Angeles is a no-brainer.

Porsche can’t look anywhere else in the planet for firmer presence and a more stable growth pad than the US soil!

America is no doubt the strongest market for Porsche, the latest figures showing that there have already been 39,000 Porsches sold between January and October 2014, which represents an 11-percent increase in deliveries compared with the same period last year.

Basking on a glorious success during a year that saw 8,700 of the speedsters delivered, the 911 has remained the Porsche model that is favored by every American with a penchant for high velocity and special attention.

Probably next to cavorting with their newest squeeze, celebrities in tinseltown would want to be seen—and photographed by paparazzi—behind the wheel of a shiny, glimmering Carrera 911, or any Porsche model for that matter.

Or if you’re as hot as Patrick Dempsey, it can be the best of both worlds. He’s not just the popular Dr. Derek Shepherd or McDreamy on the ABC medical drama “Grey’s Anatomy” but with the Porsche Racing Team as well, tackling as tough a driving challenge as the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Porsche Supercup.

In the eyes of the international media, Dempsey shared stellar billing with the Porsche new models when LA Auto Show opened its doors to cap another year of auto madness.

Here’s a brief on the model launches:

Family of 19

Porsche has added four more GTS models to the 911 Carrera model range with the four-wheel drive Carrera 4 GTS coupe and the Carrera 2 and 4 cabriolets bloating the previous family of 15.

Several technical features are touted to heighten dynamic performance and driving pleasure, including a 430-horsepower engine, the Sport Chrono package and the PASM active damper system which lowers the ride height by 10 mm. Included as standard are Bi-Xenon headlights with the Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) and the sport exhaust system, which delivers unmistakable GTS sound.

Sporty SUV

The Cayenne GTS model series is being introduced in the USA for the first time. Having earned the reputation of a sports car among large SUVs, it brandishes a new look with a sharper

design loaded with new technology and more extensive equipment.

And with its promise of sophisticated driving dynamics, the Cayenne GTS is bound to create a huge following among the sporty SUVs. Not only does the Cayenne bring the spaciousness, comfort and all-around visibility of an SUV to the next level, it also guarantees the driving pleasure, dynamic performance and agility of a sports car.

This new Cayenne model combines greater engine power, more dynamic power delivery, and a firmer suspension with a lowered body, while maintaining a high level of comfort.

As a continuation of the GTS concept, Porsche believes that “the Cayenne GTS not only fills in the gap between the Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo, but it is also a thoroughly emotionally appealing performance model with an independent character.”

The addition of the GTS versions of the 911 and Cayenne also means that Porsche now offers GTS models in four series: 911, Boxster/Cayman, Panamera and Cayenne.

Panamera Exclusive Series limited to 100 vehicles

Porsche also announced at the LA Auto Show a special release of 100 units of the Panamera Exclusive Series limited for distribution worldwide. By the time the announcement was made, all of them had been reserved.

The limited production series is based on the Panamera Turbo S Executive with 570 HP (419 kW) all-wheel drive and longer wheelbase with focus on the passenger compartment.

A custom-tailored luggage set with two trolleys, two weekender bags and a beauty case—also made of Poltrona Frau leather in chestnut brown and featuring crest perforation—is optionally available.

In another first for Porsche, the Panamera Exclusive Series will be offered in two-tone paint. Jet Black metallic is combined with a contrasting Chestnut Brown metallic highlighting the

Also, the large 20-inch Sport Classic wheels are painted in Jet Black metallic exclusively for this model.

The new Porsche rear seat Entertainment Plus comes as a standard feature, including the much larger 10.1-inch screens with higher resolution.

What should be one of the more unique features is the badge on the passenger side bearing the number of the limited edition.
