MANILA, Philippines–Since the legendary LFA supercar is not within easy reach even for Lexus regulars, perhaps the new Lexus RC F coupe can be a viable option for high-performance car enthusiasts.

Lexus Manila unveiled the RC F coupe Tuesday last week, and this aggressively styled coupe has been designed and sculpted to cut through the wind with optimum stability, and with a chassis to support its 351-kilowatt V8 engine, the most powerful Lexus has ever developed.

What sets apart the RC F variant with the RC coupe is not just wider wheels and tires, but also a muscular aero kit complete with

an active rear wing, air scoops, cooling ducts and other carbon-fiber components.

The 5-liter V8 engine has a horsepower rating of 351 KW (470.47 horsepower) at 7100 revolutions per minute and 530 Newton-meters of torque from 4800-5600 rpm range, matted with a close-ratio eight-speed sports direct shift transmission.

This is the second generation V8 F model from Lexus, benefiting the best of tuning and technology from its flagship V10 LFA limited edition supercar. The F stands for the Fuji Speedway where Lexus and its team of engineers and designers come up with all the performance enhancements to become its pinnacle sports brand, adding a high-performance dimension and product depth to its entire model range.

Lexus RC F chief engineer Yukihiko Yaguchi, a 25-year Lexus veteran who was responsible with the brand since its inception said: “The RC F is intended as a car to enable drivers of all skill levels to enjoy fun-to-drive performance. With the LFA no longer in production, the RC F will become the new F image leader.”

On road and on the track, the RC F is intended to evoke the LFA’s racing heritage, thanks to its electronically enhanced driveline based on Lexus’ Vehicle Dynamic Integrated Management (VDIM) enabling amateur drivers to get the most out of the car within the bounds of safety, even on open roads.

“It will do so through the emotional design of the coupe body and also through the authenticity of its performance,” he added.
