Motoring 2014: Mitsubishi on track for 50,000 unit sales

Make your out-of-town trips during holiday breaks worry-free by keeping your car in tip-top shape.

MITSUBISHI Motors Philippines Corp. (MMPC) had had a very busy and robust year.

Earlier this month, MMPC held the second installment of the 2015 Mitsubishi ASX media drive in Anvaya Cove in Subic Bay. The ASX, or Active Sport Crossover, was introduced four years ago locally, and now offers a new 4×2 platform, as well as a newly updated CVT (continuously variable transmission) mated to its existing 4B11 2-liter, 16-valve double overhead cam (DOHC) Mivec (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing electronic control system) engine.

In terms of sales, MMPC has been experiencing record sales. This year, MMPC had a target to sell more than 50,000 units in order to keep at least 20 percent market share. While December sales figures aren’t in yet, it looks like MMPC would be able to surpass this goal.

In the month of June alone, MMPC posted a total of 4,535 units sold, boosted mainly by the strong performance of the passenger car segment.

“The sustained sales growth of MMPC can be credited to several factors including its extensive product lineup providing the market a variety of models to choose from. The stable Philippine economy and increasing investments in the country were also contributory factors to the growth,” said MMPC in a statement earlier this year.

In August, MMPC opened Northpoint Alliance Motor Corp. (NAMCO) in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte., the 46th MMPC dealership. The area sits on a 5,245-square meter lot at 50 Buttong, Airport Road.
