MANILA, Philippines–Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. (MMPC), one of the country’s leading automotive manufacturer and distributor, recently announced that it has formed an independent Executive Advisory Council (EAC) which will serve as a consultative advisory body to its board of directors.
The establishment of EAC shall provide expert advice and opinion to MMPC’s board of directors that are vital in forming corporate strategies aligned with the company’s mission, vision and business environment. This will also guide the company in making sound and effective business decisions, considering the various areas of operations, including the effect of developments and changes in government regulations and economic policies.
To ensure the effectiveness of EAC, MMPC has selected three seasoned management experts coming from different fields apart from the automotive industry. They are: Juan B. Santos, Deogracias N. Vistan and Edgar O. Chua. These three business experts have vast management experience significant towards MMPC’s continuous expansion plans and successful business.
Santos is a former secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry and current chair of the Social Security Commission; Vistan is currently an independent director of the Philippine National Bank after holding top positions with government and private banks; and Chua is currently the country chair and president of Shell Philippines and also a board member of the Energy Development Corp.
Hikosaburo Shibata, president and CEO of MMPC, believes that for a fast-expanding 100-percent Japanese-owned company, sound advice and guidance from its EAC are indispensable. “We welcome their objective perspective on new marketing and business strategies providing directions that are better suited for the Philippine scenario. This is significant and advantageous not only for MMPC but for the progress of the whole nation,” Shibata said.
