Toyota Motor Philippines celebrated its 13th “Triple Crown”—number one in Philippine car sales, passenger cars, and in commercial vehicles—by launching more new models. The first is the Alphard premium MPV. The third-generation Alphard is all-new, beginning with the grille and front fascia, giving a “majestic and daring look.” Toyota promises better NVH (noise, vibration and harshness) isolation for improved comfort and quietness.
The wheelbase has been lengthened to 3000mm, and the rear access step is 50mm lower than the previous generation. The rear door opening is also wider by 70mm. The easier entry and exit would no doubt be appreciated by kids and senior citizen (and yes, middle-aged) passengers.
Alphard features 147 liters of cargo capacity under the luggage room floor. The MPV combines a third-row seat slide mechanism and recessed storage space, a world first according to Toyota. Even with the third seat in place, six golf bags (four lengthwise and two sideways) can be stowed in the van, plus six items of hand luggage. Rear door and quarter windows feature roller-type sunshades. An eight-speaker audio system is paired with a 4.2-inch color display.
The new Alphard is still powered by a 3.5-liter V6, good for 275 ps and 340 Nm. It is available in white pearl, black and silver. Price is P3,292,000.
