Build it yourself: Lego launches Ferrari, Porsche, McLaren sets
Lego, the world’s largest toy company, and described as the world’s largest car manufacturer (in brick terms), has officially launched its own lineup of supercars. Flexing its licensing muscles, Lego has teamed up with Ferrari, Porsche, and McLaren for its Speed Champions sets. Calling it a “collection of authentic, realistic and buildable cars,” the first to out of the pits are the Porsche 911 GT, McLaren Mercedes and Ferrari Formula One cars. The Ferrari F1 set, the most expensive at $99.00, comes with a truck and pit crew, while the McLaren comes with a pit stop setup. Since these are officially licensed, the cars come with all the neat details and sponsor decals.
Also available are the 458 Italia GT2, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918. Make that were available, as the $14.99 sets are out of stock online. You can still buy the LaFerrari, though, for the same price, or wait for the cars to become available again. The waiting will surely be quicker than the delivery lead time for an actual supercar.
