Toyota started its Lexus division by challenging the Mercedes S-Class with its full-size LS400 sedan. Now with an expansive lineup of hatchbacks, SUVs, and sedans, the Japanese premium carmaker has released a subcompact concept at the Geneva motor show.
Called the LF-SA, the stubby hatchback is a mere 3400mm long, 1700mm wide and 1430mm high. The entire car is barely 300mm longer than the LS 600h L sedan’s wheelbase. Lexus says this is the “kind of compact packaging that is essential for genuine city car manoeuvrability and agility.” The styling still follows the brand’s L-finesse design, with highly sculpted surfacing. The infamous gaping spindle grille. The car is finished in a Stellar Silver exterior paint, referencing space exploration.
The interior is inspired by a solar eclipse. The car has a 2+2 seating capacity. The driver’s seat is fixed, while the pedals and steering wheel are adjustable. The passenger seat slides forward to allow rear seat access. The information system uses hologram-style digital display with head-up display.
