36th Bangkok International Motor Show snapshots

By Aida Sevilla-Mendoza April 15,2015

After displaying the newest models and special editions of 30 car brands for 12 days at Challenger Halls 1-3 of the Impact Muang Thong Thani, the 36th Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS) closed on April 5.

The size and crowd-drawing power of the 36th BIMS can be gleaned from the hope articulated by the organizers that it would attract 1.5 million visitors from various parts of the world.  Compare that to the 100,000 plus visitors that Philippine motor shows hope to get.

Thailand, after all, is the Southeast Asian manufacturing hub of global automobile brands and the biggest automotive market in the region.

The BIMS was heaven on earth not only for car enthusiasts, but also for the motoring media, most of whom came very well-equipped with professional-level, state-of-the-art cameras to record the spectacular event.

This writer was one of the few motoring journalists not so well-equipped in terms of photographic equipment and tools.  I only had my own point-and-shoot camera, a little Sony Cyber-shot digital still camera.

Don’t laugh.  Somehow, despite the jostling crowd and contemptuous looks of professional/expert photogs, I still managed to get snapshots of some outstanding wheels, as seen in the pictures on this page.
