MITSUBISHI Motors Philippines Corp. (MMPC) recently concluded its first-ever Mitsubishi Mirage Metro Challenge, where six teams led by celebrity team leaders vie for the top spot and the champion team taking home P100,000 each with the celebrity’s winnings donated to his/her charity of choice.
The second place noncelebrity teammates received P50,000 each, while the third place noncelebrity teammates received P30,000 each. The rest of the noncelebrity team members received a consolation prize of P10,000 each.
The celebrity team leaders included sexy actress Ellen Adarna, rock legend Rico Blanco, singer/actor Markki Stroem, volleyball superstar Gretchen Ho, Internet superstar and TV host Ramon Bautista, and singer Saab Magalona.
Each team was supported by two college student teammates and had to compete in three rounds of various challenges each time, testing their wit, skill, intelligence and even automotive knowledge highlighting the practicality and functionality of the Mitsubishi Mirage G4 vehicle.
The three rounds of challenges were held on May 9 at the Quezon Memorial Circle, followed by the second round on May 16 at the Bonifacio Global City, and the culminating third round on May 30 at parking grounds of SM Mall of Asia.
All the points earned from each challenge and online votes were accumulated to determine each team’s points. The team with the most points took home the top prize of the first-ever Mirage Metro Challenge.
MMPC had set up a microsite to update fans and viewers on the points ranking of each team, and to encourage them to help their favorite team win by voting for the teams every week on www.newmirage.ph.
During the last round, Team Ramon prevailed, taking home the top prize.
Dubbed as an “Internet superstar,” Bautista is also an actor, radio DJ, TV show host, commercial model, filmmaker, producer and a University of the Philippines professor.
MMPC officially unveiled the all-new Mirage G4, which stands for Mirage Global four-door sedan, last October, offering greater cabin and trunk spaces, as well as class-leading features and amenities.
The all-new Mirage G4 is available in GLS and GLX variants and in both CVT and five-speed manual transmission.
Beating at the heart of the Mirage G4 is a lightweight and compact 1.2-liter, three in-line DOHC Mivec (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control) gasoline engine that generates a maximum output of 77 horsepower and 100 Newton-meters of torque.
Team Ramon donated the celebrity’s earnings to the survivors of Supertyphoon “Yolanda,” while Team Saab gave its earnings to the Francis Magalona Foundation, named in honor of Saab’s and Philippine rap’s father Francis Magalona.
Third-placer Team Ellen donated its earnings to the Precious Pearl Children’s Home.
