Small vehicles from both directions were allowed over the bridge starting early Monday but trucks and buses were still barred from crossing.

Despite the opening, officials cautioned motorists using the bridge because construction materials and workers were still on the structure.
Originally scheduled to be closed by only one month starting March 22, the bridge remained closed to all vehicles until yesterday, in time for the full reopening of schools.
BACKSTORY: Ayala Bridge reopening moved from April to June
Public Works Secretary Rogelio SingsonĀ earlier said that Ayala bridge had to undergo needed rehabilitation and retrofitting. It also had to be raised by 75 centimeters to prevent barges passing through the Pasig River from hitting the structure. CB
