LOS BAÑOS, Laguna, Philippines — The wife of an executive of a telecommunications company was found dead inside a car on Sunday in Biñan City, Laguna, three days after she was reported missing
Laguna police director Senior Superintendent Florendo Saligao said the body found inside an abandoned car belonged to Gloria Gonzales, 47. Gonzales was the wife of John R. Gonzales, Vice President & Head for Corporate Relationship Management of the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co.
She was earlier reported missing since June 25 and was last seen leaving their house in Parañaque City onboard a Toyota Innova with plate number UOS 146.
She was wearing a blue checkered shirt and denim pants.
The last mobile signal transmission coming from Gonzales’ phone was traced in Barangay Acadia Silang Cavite.
Her family made appeals for help on social media after she went missing.
In a text message, Saligao said the car, bearing the same plate number, was found around 9 a.m. on Sunday in Barangay San Vicente. He said a villager, identified as Chester Gerodias, noticed the car parked outside his residence along Bautista St. but was alarmed by the foul smell coming from inside the vehicle.
Upon closer look, Gerodias noticed something fluid “with an unpleasant smell leaking from the inside,” prompting him to seek help from the village officials and the local police, Saligao said.
Authorities forced open the car and found the body covered in a blanket at the backseat. Biñan City police chief Superintendent Noel Aliño could not be immediately contacted on his mobile phone, but case investigator Senior Police Officer 1 Tristan Enriquez said a police conference was ongoing Sunday afternoon regarding the case. -Julie Aurelio, Maricar Cinco
