“Yesterday, I got to take this beauty home.” With that caption, some 3.4 million followers of Anne Curtis recently beheld vicariously through Instagram the spanking new ride of the “It Girl” of entertainment.
Wearing a white summer dress, Anne posed beside an Audi Q5 SUV in dazzling volcano red. Undoubtedly, the Q5 is truly a vehicle worthy of her fame and stature. The newly refreshed high-performance SUV is itself renowned for excellence—notching a place on the 2015 Top 10 Best Luxury SUVs list of the Kelly Blue Book Guide of the United States.
The Audi Q5 was also awarded the highest safety recognition: Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Audi also received the Euro Car Body Award—the most prestigious award in car design—for the Q5’s excellent chassis design.
Packed with pep, the updated Q5 combines direct fuel injection with charging, and a standard start-stop system for enhanced fuel economy by up to 15 percent.
Still, the Audi Q5 features generous power on tap with as much as 177 horsepower and 380 Newton-meters of torque.
Audi employs an innovative thermal management system for the Q5 four-cylinder variants. This significantly shortens the warm-up phase after a cold start.
Moving on to the transmission system, the Q5 is equipped with Audi’s seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission. The transmission system has wider gear spreads—the long gear ratios in the upper gears reduce fuel consumption, while the short gear ratios of the lower gears improve dynamic performance in highway driving.
Among other sterling qualities, Audi is known for its unique quattro permanent all-wheel-drive system. This comes standard in the Q5.
Even from the outside, Audi’s midsize sport ute looks athletic and spacious. The coupe-like roofline and wraparound tailgate lends elegance and agility.
Look closely into the headlamp assembly to see the newly designed LED daytime running lights of the optional xenon-plus units, which appear as curved bands encircling the headlights. Audi also offers the optional adaptive light with dynamic cornering and static turning lights.
The Q5’s front fascia evolves as its horizontal lines are emphasized more strongly. The high-gloss black single frame grille now sports beveled upper edges, while the vertical chrome struts and the always eye-catching Audi rings have a sculpted look. The modified bumpers integrate air inlets with high-gloss black inserts and fog lights with chrome rings.
The engine hood and trunk lid are made of aluminum, while a large share of the car’s structural elements integrate ultrahigh-strength steel material—reducing weight and improving crash safety.
Within the Audi Q5, designers and engineers have made additional forward strides in refined styling.
Many of the user controls now have an elegant narrow chrome trim. The steering column control stalks; ignition key and instruments were given subtle modifications.
The narrow panels of the center console are in high-gloss black. All steering wheel versions, including those with shift paddles, reflect the new Q-specific styling.
Buyers can choose from a range of 15 colors, including four new hues. As options, Audi can deliver an S-line exterior package or an offroad styling package.
The central media component, MMI navigation plus, now has four buttons, and its volume dial has an additional skip function.
Other refinements have been made to the controls for the new highly efficient air-conditioning system—the Audi drive select system and the multifunction steering wheel.
Indeed, if there’s so much that Anne loves in the new Audi Q5, there’s a good chance you’ll fall head over heels over this looker of an SUV, too.
