Jose Gerard Policarpio, 29, did the Philippines proud when he won the 2015 Nissan GT Academy championship Asian division by besting the finest non-professional drivers of Japan, India, Thailand and Indonesia in the final race of the GTA Race Camp at Silverstone, England. It was the first time that a Filipino race car driver stood on the podium of historic Silverstone, where the Formula One British Grand Prix is held every year. Although the trophy he received was not an F1 trophy, it nevertheless marked a victory for Philippine motor sport in the international motor racing arena.
