Motor Image Pilipinas, the exclusive distributor of Subaru automobiles in the Philippines together with its authorized dealers in Cebu and Davao, officially kicked off the Subaru Palm Challenge 2015, the nationwide search for the 10 mentally and physically strong participants who will represent the Philippines in the regional finals in Singapore. The provincial legs of the challenge was held last August 8 at Ayala Center, Cebu City and August 15 at SM Lanang Premier, Davao City. Out of over 300 registrants per leg, 120 Cebuanos and 120 Davaoenos qualified for the Cebu and Davao leg respectively.
This year’s Cebu Leg winner is Mr. Donn Michael Yap, a 25-year old Virtual Assistant for Financial Advisers and also last year’s winner. Mr. Yap posted a time of 12 hours, 55 minutes and 45 seconds, beating his previous record of 12 hours 51 minutes and 10 seconds. He will be joined by a 43-year old Furniture Carpenter from Davao, Mr. Gilbert Hamo-ay. The last man standing from the Davao leg finished with a time of 13 hours 7 minutes and 3 seconds, creating a new record for Davaoenos.
8 other challengers from Manila will complete the 10-man Philippine contingent on September 5 at Bonifacio High Street and compete against 10 Asian countries at the Subaru Challenge 2015 Regional Finals in Singapore.
The prizes for the 2015 edition include exclusive Subaru merchandise, Php 10,000 for the top 9 challengers per leg and Php 20,000 for the leg winner. The Philippines’ 10-man contingent will also enjoy an all-expense paid trip to Singapore where they will compete for a brand new Subaru Forester 2.0i-L worth Php 1,398,000.
