September 4 has been dubbed “Force Friday” in acknowledgement of the release of Star Wars merchandise related to the upcoming movie “Episode 7: the Force Awakens.” Dodge produced a few Charger sedans in Star Wars First Order Stormtrooper guise.
The eight Dodge Chargers, real-life versions of the Hot Wheels Stormtrooper diecast car, will go around New York City on September 4. They will be assigned to give free rides via Uber. New Yorkers can use the code HOTWHEELSFF to catch a free ride on that day.
Hot Wheels officials said the company chose Dodge Charger because, the “Dodge Charger embodies the look and feel of the Hot Wheels Stormtrooper diecast car and is sure to turn heads when traversing on the streets of NYC on Force Friday.”
The partnership with Hot Wheels marks the official debut of merchandise from the Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie. The seventh chapter in the Star Wars saga is set for a Dec. 18 release in the U.S. and several other countries.
