Motor Image Pilipinas, Inc. the official distributor of Subaru vehicles in the Philippines held its first ever Subaru Marathon last September 13, 2015 at the Mall of Asia Grounds, Pasay City. This is a partnership with RunRio, Inc., the premier running events organizer in the country. The Subaru Marathon recorded over 6,000 registered runners for four different race categories of 5K, 10k, 21k, and 42k. The 42k race category kicked off as early as 2:00 AM with runners going through Mall of Asia, Roxas Boulevard, Buendia going to Kalayaan avenue passing by the Subaru Manila Bay and Global City showrooms. After the race, runners and guests were treated at the race village, which was filled with fun activities, photo booths, giveaways and freebies from sponsors, more fitness activities and heart pumping music sets by Kat DJ to keep the runners hyped up.
Top finishers were awarded with premium items from Subaru as well as the race sponsors and cash prizes. The 42k category came down to a photo finish between two foreign runners sprinting to the finish line. Top honors in the 42k category with a time of 02:47:24 was brought home by Kenyan Mr. David Kipsang, followed by his countryman Mr. Joackim Kemboi who finished second with just a split second interval. The fastest woman in the race Ms. Cristabel Martes took third place with a time of 3:00:26.
The Subaru Marathon aims to promote a healthy and proactive lifestyle and similar to Subaru’s core technologies that provides performance and safety that is standard to Subaru’s line-up, the Subaru Marathon participants have shown that they have got what it takes to perform in their respective categories. With the success of the first ever Subaru Marathon, MIPI is supporting and encouraging active and healthy lifestyle.
