The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has asked Uber to explain why its accreditation should not be canceled in view of a complaint filed by a passenger against one of its partner drivers.
In a show cause order signed by LTFRB legal division officer in charge Robert Peig, Uber was given five days to also explain why the vehicle concerned was allowed to operate without proper authority from the board.
In a Facebook post, Christine Fulgencio, a flight stewardess, said that she booked a ride in Valle Verde, Pasig City, on Sept. 24. She claimed that the Uber driver identified as Niccolo Lizaso allegedly threatened her with a steel pipe when he got angry after she failed to properly indicate her location.
Lizaso was driving a Toyota Vios which had only a conduction sticker (VP 7587). According to the LTFRB, the vehicle was not authorized to pick up passengers just yet. LTFRB board member Ariel Inton earlier said that the complaint was referred to him by a former colleague in the Quezon City council, Councilor Franz Pumaren, prompting him to call for an investigation.
