SALES of Isuzu Philippines Corp. (IPC) in the first nine months of the year jumped 70 percent, compared with the same period in 2014, due to the outstanding performance posted by its SUV model.

Based on the combined report released by the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (Campi) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA), IPC sold 16,326 units from January to September, cornering 8 percent of the country’s commercial vehicle market.

In comparison, the company delivered 9,963 units during the same months in 2014.

“The increase in IPC’s sales in the first nine months of 2015 is a clear indicator of the brand’s stellar performance this year,” said IPC president Hajime Koso. “In the coming months, we expect the company’s performance to even improve as sales will likely be boosted by the increase in consumer spending during holiday season, as well as several economic factors that might spike market confidence.”

Propelling IPC’s market position is the sales of its SUV model. From January to September, the company reportedly sold 8,068 units of the Isuzu mu-X, making it the top-selling model of Isuzu in the country.

Likewise, Isuzu’s category III N-Series light-duty trucks, which have led the segment for 16 consecutive years, is set to top again as IPC sold 2,187 units  from January to September, commanding  a 61-percent market share.

As for the other Isuzu commercial vehicles, purchases of the  D-Max pickup  reached 2,220; Crosswind AUV, 3,029; category IV trucks and buses, 913; and category V heavy-duty trucks, 155 units from January to September this year.

The increase in sales of its heavy-duty truck is due to the introduction of its new C&E Series trucks in the market.

IPC said  the positive results could be accounted for the company’s known strengths that have continuously appealed to and have earned the trust of Filipino consumers through the years.

Isuzu models have a solid reputation in diesel technology, reliability, durability and fuel efficiency. Isuzu also strongly upholds the importance of fast and efficient aftersales service.

Expecting yet another record-breaking sale this year, Isuzu vows to continue  supporting the local manufacturing sector, with majority of its models being assembled in its facility in Biñan, Laguna.
