Makati, Philippines – Nissan Philippines Inc. (NPI) introduced its new Almera model as its newest subcompact sedan in their line-up at its Nissan Makati dealership showroom last Monday. The Almera features a new boomerang-style headlamp and a redesigned bumper with larger front grille for better engine cooling and chromed accents for that added premium look. Its remodeled rear bumper is complemented with a black diffuser cladding and chromed trunk garnish and finished off with a large lip rear trunk spoiler.
“We at Nissan Philippines are proud to introduce the new Nissan Almera as the perfect partner for all new beginnings” said Antonia Zara, NPI President and Managing Director. “Combining the best of fuel efficiency with generous cabin and trunk space that leads other cars in its class, the new Nissan Almera is the ideal car that will be with you and your loved ones through many of life’s important milestones.”
The new Almera comes in two different powertrains – an inline 4-cylinder 1.5 liter double overhead cam 16-valve HR15DE engine with a power rating of 99ps at 6,000rpm and a torque of 134Nm at 4,000rpm and a choice of automatic or manual transmission. The entry level variant comes with an inline 3-cylinder 1.2L HR12DE engine with manual transmission, with a power of 79ps at 6,000rpm and torque of 106Nm at 4,400rpm. The front suspension comes with a MacPherson strut and a rigid axle with torsion beam at the rear.
The inside cabin features a new center cluster layout with a piano black finish and a new multi-information display. The top line 1.5L VL model is also equipped with high quality leather seats and a three-spoke leather wrapped steering wheel. Just like the previous model, the new Almera promises one of the most expansive and best in class interior cabin spaces in the market today.
Aside from this, amenities and goodies like cup and bottle holders at the center console and door sidings, iPod connectivity, push-button start and a remote keyless system is included in some variants. The V and VL variants have automatic air-con climate control and a rear cabin comfort fan that provides dual ventilation. Safety features like the Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-Force Distribution, Brake Assist, Speed-sensing locks and Dual Front Airbags come in standard across all variants.
Nissan PH also promises that the cost of spare parts for the new Nissan Almera will be lower than before, averaging 30 percent lower compared to other cars of its class in maintenance expenses.
The Almera is available in five different variants with the following prices – the 1.2L M/T (manual transmission) at PHP630,000, the 1.5L E M/T at PHP726,000, the 1.5L E A/T (automatic transmission) at PHP762,000, the 1.5L V automatic transmission at PHP845,000, and the range-topping 1.5 VL automatic model is at PHP880,000. It will come in four different colors, namely Brilliant Silver, Alpine White, Bluish Black, and Titanium Grey.
