December 04,2015

isuzu-mux-2ISUZU Philippines Corporation (IPC), the local arm of Japanese carmaker Isuzu, recently snatched a monumental feat in the automotive industry as it breach the 200,000-sales barrier last October after more than 18 years in the market.

Records showed that since its establishment in 1996, the local assembler for the Japanese car brand sold a total of 201,777 units as of October 2015, with the ever-reliable flagship model Isuzu Crosswind keeping the lead.

Introduced in the market in 2001, the Isuzu Crosswind has been a constant mover in the market. Some 13 years after being introduced up to October this year, it had sold 85,308 units across all variants. For its first year in the market alone, it had sold a total of 5,423 units. The biggest sale for the Crosswind AUV was made in 2003, wherein IPC has rolled out 8,901 units.

IPC’s second best-selling vehicle in the line-up is the Isuzu D-Max pickup, delivering 29,115 units after being launched in the Philippine market in 2003, making  it one of the most popular in its segment, with sales continuing to grow.

The third best-selling model for IPC are the N-Series light-duty trucks, selling 22,170 units, with the biggest sales tally in 2014 of 2,358 units.

The Isuzu Hilander, the Crosswind’s predecessor, placed fourth in IPC’s success chart, despite being available in the Philippines for only five years starting 1997; the Hilander sold 17,434 units.

Meanwhile, the Isuzu mu-X, after being launched late last year, is starting to create waves in the local automotive scene after it reached the 10,000-unit mark in October.

Launched in September last year, the Isuzu mu-X replaced the Isuzu Alterra, and easily became one of the prime movers for IPC’s sales for this year.

IPC president Hajime Koso expressed his sincerest gratitude for the continued trust and confidence of the Filipinos for the Isuzu brand. He said that the Filipino’s core values are similar to that of their company.

“Hard work, dedication, diligence: These best describes the Filipinos. These same set of values is what makes Isuzu successful in this country,” he said.

“In behalf of Isuzu Japan and Isuzu Philippines, we thank you for the full support and faith in us. Rest assured that we will continue to innovate and strive to give Filipinos the best of what we can. Thank you for being our constant reliable partner,” Koso added.
