Motor Image, the exclusive distributor of Subaru vehicles in the Southeast Asian region, introduced last December 1st the new 2016 model year Subaru XV and the Subaru Levorg to the members of the media and the public at the Thailand International Motor Expo. The motor expo is the auto industry’s year-ending highlight in Bangkok’s busy and active motoring events calendar. Motor Image organized several members of the regional motoring media from the ASEAN region to witness the launch as well to try out the new VX at the venue’s expansive open parking grounds.
Modeling during the unveil in Thailand was Motor Image’s ambassadress Monika Sta. Maria, last season’s Asia’s Next Top Model 1st runner up this year with Natalie Su Pickles, a Taiwanese-British fashion model who represented Taiwan last season of the same show. Motor Image is a sponsor for the popular TV show in the region.
Aside from subtle improvements in aesthetics, the 2016 XV model’s handling and steering system is redesigned and re-tuned to have at least a 10% improvement in steering response according to Yoshitaka Miya, manager for Subaru’s Planning and Portfolio Planning Division. This claim was put to the test when guests were invited to try out the new XV on a several tracks to simulate different road conditions. From jungle paths with simulated ruts, sandy terrain, mechanized cross and slip rollers as well as freestyle concrete pavement, the XV lived up to its claim.

There is true joy when you get the freedom to do that, and the Subaru XV is the perfect car that allows you to Unpark Your Life, getting you to your destination, anywhere,” said Mr Glenn Tan, Executive Director of Tan Chong International Ltd. “We’re excited to launch the new Subaru XV, with enhanced features that refresh the exterior as well as refined upgraded interior features, combining space, comfort and versatility with an improved stylish design.
The new XV features Subaru’s responsive 2.0 liter horizontally opposed boxer engine with Symmetrical All-wheel Drive (SAWD) and an enhanced front grille design with new headlights as well as a new 17-inch sport rims.
Inside, Subaru also restyled its interior to include a premium cluster display, smart entry and push start, leather shift boot, aluminum pedals, premium multi-function display and a redesigned steering wheel. The new XV also uses an orange leather stitching to signify its heritage color.
The new Subaru XV will come in two options – the 2.0i and 2.0i-Premium variants. Since its debut in 2011, the Subaru XV has expanded its customer base and has renewed confidence in another segment of the market who later on upgrade to Forester or other more premium models. The XV has also won “Five Stars” in the various global automotive safety tests such as: Japan New Car Assessment Program (JNCAP), Euro NCAP, ANCAP Safety and Top Safety Pick for Insurance Institute For Highway Safety (IIHS).
Subaru’s 2.0-litre Horizontally-Opposed Boxer Engine produces 150PS of horsepower and 196Nm of torque, promising an enjoyable and responsive drive and fuel economy. Subaru’s All-Wheel-Drive system and the lower center of gravity from Subaru’s boxer engine allows the vehicle to unmatched handling and maneuverability compared to other vehicles in its class.
The new Subaru XV features Subaru’s unique hexagon grille and C-shaped headlights have been incorporated into the design of the vehicle, together with sharper contour lines running along the front bumper, headlights, fog-lights and tail-lights. Together with the new Levorg model, the new Subaru XV will be unveiled this coming December 15th but is already available for booking at the following Subaru Showrooms across the Philippines, EDSA Greenhills, Global City, Manila Bay, Alabang, Sta. Rosa, Batangas, Cebu, Cagayan De Oro and Davao.
