All-new Mitsubishi Montero Sport debuts with four variants

mitsubishi-montero-sport-2Mitsubishi Motors Philippines has been quietly selling and delivering Montero Sport units since December, and will officially launch the vehicle on January 20. The all-new SUV features sharper styling, a powerful and reportedly fuel-efficient engine, and the most number of forward gears in any SUV this side of a Land Rover Discovery Sport.

 

All variants of Montero Sport carry the new 2.4-liter turbodiesel engine. With MIVEC variable valve timing and common-rail direct injection, the new engine produces 181 ps and 430 Nm.

 

mitsubishi-montero-sportThe Montero Sport measures 4785 mm long, 1815 mm wide and 1805 mm tall. Wheelbase is 2800mm. It features a wading depth of 700mm, and a 218-mm ground clearance.

mitsubishi-montero-sport-4All variants are equipped with reverse sensors and reverse camera, rear aircon, side step, roof rail, defogger, tailpipe finisher. Leather steering wheel with tilt-telescoping ability, trip computer, and cruise control are standard on all variants. The standard audio unit is a 2-DIN setup with 6.75-inch touchscreen monitor, with DVD playback and 6 speakers. It is iPod ready, with USB and Bluetooth connectivity. GPS navigation system is standard.

 

Suspension is double-wishbone front, with a three-link setup at the rear, all with coil springs and stabilizer bars. Discs are 4-wheel discs. Montero Sport has the tightest turning radius in the class, at 5.6 meters. All variants ride on 265/60-series tires on 18-inch alloys. The GT variant features two-tone alloy wheels.
