Movistar Yamaha, the 2015 MotoGP Constructors Champion, and Yamaha Motor Philippines, headed by its President Mr. Toru Osugi, brought to our shores the 2015 MotoGP Riders Champion Jorge Lorenzo for the opening leg of the Yamaha GP – One Make Race.

The 2015 Champion thrilled the crowd at the Carmona Racing Circuit by showcasing his riding skills, and, bouyed by the warm reception of the fans in attendance, Lorenzo rode more laps than what was required of him. But it was when he stopped in front of the turn 1 grandstand to hand out souvenirs, especially to the younger fans, that brought out the smile from underneath the helmet. Lorenzo was visibly happy engaging the locals, and the fans, in return, welcomed him gladly.

“I am very happy that I get to be part of the Yamaha Grand Prix 7 here in the Philippines. I am very excited to know that there are riders here full of passion and I hope one day I get to race with the first Filipino Motogp rider,” said Lorenzo as he officially opened the seventh running of the Yamaha Grand Prix.

Asked on what tip can he give the Filipino riders on how to win; Jorge replied: “A lot of advice, but I tried the track. The track is very tricky, a lot of bumps, so you need to be careful with the bumps, to keep your concentration and keep on riding. Just get focused and go as fast as possible.”

“I am very happy and very excited to see the passsion of the fans here, enjoy the race, good weather and have a good race” Lorenzo added.

The Yamaha GP – One Make race features four classes: the 115 SS Automatic, 115 SS Vega Force, 130 Open Underbone and the Sniper 150 underbone. This series will surely hone rider skills and capabilities, and the champions could move on to higher racing divisions and one of them could become the first Filipino MotoGP rider.
