The high-powered 4-meter tall trucks that collectively go by the name Monster Jam will be back in Manila for shows on Father’s Day weekend, June 18-19, at SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena.

Calling them “monsters” is the just right, as the trucks are powered by 1700-horsepower supercharged engines. This allows the 5-ton beasts to jump high above the arena floor while emitting a thunderous roar.

This year, no less than eight Monster Jam trucks will be pounding their way across the arena. Returning is Grave Digger, one of the most popular and most decorated Monster Jam trucks.

Grave Digger has won the sport’s racing title twice, and the freestyle title twice. The truck with the famous green and black flame paint job will once again shine its trademark red headlights at the event.

Also returning is multiple champion Max-D. Max-D is meant to portray a futuristic SUV with its aerodynamic-look body style and orange and silver paint job.

The distinctive Dragon truck also makes a return appearance. Dragon looks just like the mythical beast, with spikes, long horns, and angled fins. Completing the look are the flames that shoot out of the Dragon’s hood.

New combatants for 2016 include Monster Mutt Dalmatian. This truck with floppy ears, tongue, and wagging tail is one of three Monster Mutt racers.

Monster Mutt is driven by Candice Jolly and Cynthia Gauthier, two of the well-known female drivers in the series.

Another canine-inspired vehicle is Scooby Doo, which debuted in 2013. The Scooby-Doo truck aims to take on the other “big dogs” in the sport.

Hot Wheels gets its own full-size truck in Team Hot Wheels Firestorm. Hot Wheels has been a sponsor, and creator of Monster Jam die-cast toys in several scales.

Firestorm is a relatively lightweight beast, thanks to its carbon-fiber, Kevlar, and E-glass body. Its body weighs half that of a normal fiberglass monster truck body.

Alien Invasion sports an alien theme. With a body modified from the Iron Man truck, the new version sports state-of-the-art lighting effects.

The pirate-themed Captain’s Curse completes the lineup. Captain’s Curse debuted with a bang, capturing the Monster Jam World Finals Freestyle title in its first year.

The SM MOA Arena will be transformed with several tons of dirt and equipment. The arena will become a battleground complete with ramps and obstacles.

The Monster Jam trucks will be leaping, rolling over, and flattening cars during the event—just the right entertainment for a Father’s Day weekend. Just make sure to bring your earplugs.
