FATHER’S Day is a special day where the superheroes of our lives get pampered for a change. It’s a perfect opportunity for dad to take his mind of work and simply indulge in their guilty pleasures.
But, for Winter Regino, it was still about making his little boy happy and creating memories that they can treasure forever.
Winter and Jane Regino decided to spend last year’s Father’s Day at the first Monster Jam show in Manila. It was a treat for their son, Calvin, who is so fond of cars at a young age.
“As Calvin grew up, I observed his love for cars, be it a regular one or those top of the line.” As parents, Winter and Jane were very supportive of Calvin’s keenness for different kind of cars. Winter admits he somehow influenced his son’s interest.
It had become a bonding activity for their family to attend car-related events. “We never missed a tran-show whenever time and schedule permited us. We even celebrated a cars-themed party for his second birthday.”
Of course, the family was also collectively a fan of the Fox TV show, Monster Jam. “Prior to Monster Jam Manila, my son and I were avid watchers of their show on Fox channel. My wife, Jane, watched with us also. She doesn’t have a choice, but I’m glad she is supportive of our son’s passion.”
When they found out that Monster Jam was having its inagural show last year at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, the family made sure that they would be able to watch. It brought the whole family joy, but most especially to Calvin.
The whole show became a family affair for the Regino bunch. What dad wouldn’t want to be part of the excitement of Monster Jam trucks flying over jumps and crushing the average commuter cars up close and personal?
The best part was that Calvin loved the show! Nothing could beat the sight of his jaw dropping as he saw his favorite Monster Jam stars roaring and tearing up the track.
“Coming to the event last June 20 was a dream come true for me, especially for Calvin since that was the first time that we could watch the show live. He was really happy and excited preparing for that day.”
