A WOMAN and her 25-year-old son died in Caloocan City after a passenger jeepney hit the tricycle that was taking them to a market early Wednesday morning.
The tricycle driver was also injured. Rosela Buenaflor, 53, and her son Marvin, residents of Minuyan, Norzagaray, Bulacan province, succumbed to their injuries before rescuers could reach the crash site on Quirino Highway, in front of Guadanoville Subdivision in Barangay 183.
The police said the victims were in a tricycle driven by Jack Inductivo around 1:30 a.m. when it was hit and dragged for several meters by a Palmera-Novaliches jeepney driven by Charles Calo Jr.
The officer on the case, P03 Michael Calora, said the jeepney tried to overtake the tricycle.
The driver was arrested to face criminal charges but the Inquirer learned on Thursday that Rosela’s husband was open to a settlement should Calo shoulder the funeral expenses.
The mother and son died while on their way to Commonwealth Market to buy goods to be resold at their own market stall in Norzagaray. Ritzchelle Belenzo
