When was the last time you went to a car dealership for some fancy dining? Volkswagen Philippines and Ilustrado Restaurant of Intramuros recently opened V by Ilustrado Café and Lounge inside the Volkswagen showroom located on 28th street Bonifacio Global City. The 27-year old restaurant drew its popularity from old-Manila Intramuros with its notable Filipino-Spanish fare. The partnership was formed as early as January of 2016 primarily to cater to its clients when visiting the showroom and also to members and affiliates of the Ayala Group of Companies including Volkswagen BGC.
“We are very optimistic about bringing our brand to BGC,” said Ilustrado owner Boni Pimentel. “From Callos Madrilena and Adobong Bagnet with crab fat to specialty pastas, paninis and tapas and soon Filipino breakfast and merienda fare, clients of both Volkswagen and Ilustrado will surely enjoy what we have to offer. We are happy to extend our brand to the guests of Volkswagen and BGC.”
“As you know, we at Volkswagen Philippines are proud of the world-class craftsmanship and dedication to precision the Volkswagen brand and its 80-year heritage has offered to the world, particularly to our car-loving Pinoy society. And we are also very much aware that Filipinos love to eat. Volkswagen Philippines has combined the best of both worlds, the two fastest ways to a Pinoy’s heart into one showcase– cars and cuisine. Volkswagen flagship dealership, which is located in one of the best settings in the country, Bonifacio Global City, now caters a complete customer experience.” Said John Philip Orbeta president and CEO of Volkswagen Philippines.
The lounge and its interiors were designed to be seamless with the VW showroom and complement its minimalist designer vibe with the German marque’s showcase. Pimentel added that “It’s taken a lot of hard work to get this place fully functioning, and we’re excited to share this partnership and our distinguished cuisine to the BGC community,” he said.
The showroom is conveniently located in one of BGC’s bustling dining spots, just right next to W building and is parallel to BGC’s High Street shopping and dining district. Aside from its Filipino-Spanish cuisine, the lounge also offers select German beer and other beverages.
It is also designed to handle small group events and parties with a capacity of about 50 pax. It is open from 9:00 am – 8:00 pm on Tuesdays to Thursdays, and 8:00 am – 10:00 pm Fridays and Saturdays while on Sundays it is open at 8:00 am – 8:00 pm.
