Last July 30, Honda Cars Philippines invited a group of kids to experience being part of the Honda team for a day.
Honda partnered with KidZania Manila, an establishment in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) similar to a small city with different job stations. Kids can choose different activities and experience a version of adult work.
They are given a chance to work as a writer at the Philippine Daily Inquirer, chef, fireman, doctor, dealership salesman at Honda, member of a race pit crew, and many more.
The afternoon began with a short speech from Honda. They told the participants that Honda wanted us to experience their slogan, “The Power of Dreams.” They want to inspire kids to pursue their dreams and make them a reality through hard work.
The group then gathered around the Honda Dealership at KidZania. The staff there trained us on how to market a car, specifically a Honda Jazz, to customers.
They gave us information about the Jazz to tell to our customers—a roomy back seat, a lot of trunk space, and top-notch comfort, making it a good family car.
Tablets at the station allowed us to view the Honda website and the different models. They incorporate the use of technology as it is something we are accustomed to.
After this activity, the group proceeded to the Honda Car Design station, where we had the chance to design and name our very own Honda Cars on computers. The final models were then printed out for us to take home. This booth created a businesslike environment, and everyone took their work very seriously.
At the Honda Pit Crew Training booth, we experienced being part of a racing team. We had to work on a specific time for preparing the car. The goal here was to beat the record time for a pit stop, and in doing so, work together as a team and collaborating as one.
Through this activity, we experienced the different jobs in the automotive world. We can get the feeling of how it is to work. This includes working with a team, and planning ahead. We enjoyed these activities because they were fun learning experiences.
In line with the company’s slogan “The Power of Dreams,” the idea is to inspire others to continue moving forward. The aim is to promote welfare in today’s society by educating kids about being responsible citizens. Where kids are able to do big things, they get ready for a better world.
