Honda Cars Philippines will have two special treats for visitors to the Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS).  Honda will be launching the all-new BR-V crossover, and featuring the McLaren-Honda Formula One race car.

The BR-V is a new seven-seat crossover that Honda promises will be affordable and impressive. Built on the same platform as the popular Mobilio, the BR-V also comes with three rows of seats.

Demand for SUVs and crossovers is at a record high in the Philippines as consumers come to appreciate the high ground clearance and more flexible interior.

Honda promises that the BR-V will have a spacious interior, high ground clearance, fuel-efficient power train, advanced technology, and top-notch safety engineering.

Expected exterior features are big roof rails, available LED taillights, and 16-inch alloy wheels.

The interior will reportedly have class-leading knee and head room, a multi-information display, and rear aircon vents.

The expected engine is a 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine with 120 hp and 145 Nm. It will be paired with a six-speed manual or CVT transmission.

Safety features include dual front SRS airbags, ABS brakes with electronic brake distribution, available vehicle stability assist, and hill start assist. Seats will have Isofix attachments for child seat installation.

Aside from the practical, Honda will also showcase its mighty and angry side. This is in the form of the McLaren-Honda Formula One racecar.

Within the McLaren chassis is Honda’s new RA616H power unit. Although deceptively compact, the Honda power unit contains 3,500 components. It is capable of revving to 15,000 rpm.

The 1.6-liter, six-cylinder unit delivers enough power to Fernando Alonso’s and Jenson Button’s Sunday cars to accelerate them to 200 kph in less than five seconds.

This legendary partnership between McLaren and Honda, indeed, has brought some unforgettable F1 races.
