Chicdriven ladies’ guide to a motor show

Do you ever find your self asked by your man to accompany him to a car show? While thinking it might be a good way for you to spend quality time with him, you then realize that instead of looking into your eyes and holding your hand, the afternoon is spent with him ogling both the new car (and female) models.

Unless you are shopping for a vehicle, some ladies might dread going to a motor show because—let us face it—a car show is equivalent to the Flagship Sephora Makeup store for men.

Cars, women, manly camaraderie in one great hall. What more can they ask for?

But it is not a lost cause, in fact, and if you know what you are looking for, there are a lot of things we women can enjoy.

Since one of the biggest motor shows is happening this week, here are some items you can take note of if you find yourself in the halls of the World Trade Center for the Philippine International Motorshow.

Free test drive 

During car shows, most of the exhibitors will offer free test drives.  Some will even go out on a limb and try to give exciting 4×4 or racing-inspired test drives.

Unless you have money coming out of your ears and can afford any car, a motorshow will be the best place for you to drive a dream car.

You can pretend to have several cars in your stable and Instagram photos of you driving the different cars.

Free seminar

In a car show, the stage area is used at appointed hours by companies willing to do different seminars, like road safety, setting up your car, etc.

Some of these seminars are normally offered outside of the motorshow for hefty registration prices.

So if you see something interesting, leave your man alone for 30 to 45 minutes to listen to them.

Freebies

Each booth will have its own giveaway that transforms you into their walking advertisement—from balloons, eco bags, caps, etc.

They will also give you cool giveaways in exchange for your contact details, a test drive, or a sale.  While some are useful, others are just future junk.

Latest gadgets

Because  thousands attend car shows, you will also see companies that have products that can be used for cars.

These companies usually take advantage of the show to launch new products.  From fuel saving devices, car battery chargers, special tints, to oil-free hamburger grills, you will see it here.

They usually give special offers to entice you to buy.

Special discounts

If you are considering buying anything that is offered at the motor show but at a later date, we suggest that you try to buy it at the motor show instead.

Cars, tires, travel packages, and credit cards will try to sweet talk you with big discounts so that they can reach their car show sales quotas.

Cute sales person

In the past two years I had been going to motor shows, car companies have started bringing in cute male models to entice you to at least have a second look.  Female models are no longer the sole eye candy in the booths.

The exhibitors also bring their best looking and most effective sales consultants, so not only are you well taken cared of in visual terms, you also receive the best service.

100 K attendees, 80% men

And just in case you have no man to drag you to the motor show, the exhibition venue will have a predominantly male attendance.

If you play your cards right, and are able to steal the men’ s focus from the cars and female models in the booths, you are bound to meet one.
