WITH Volvo Car’s recent $11 billion investment, the Scandinavian icon car brand is putting a huge bet in charting its future and the direction of its future models.

Volvo has been known for its excellence in road comfort and performance with class-leading features in safety. The bet seems to be taking fruit, as the car brand posted a 10.5 percent growth in the first half of 2016, thanks in part to the introduction of its second generation and all-new XC90 SUV model.

Here are three top picks for the next Volvo of your dreams.

Volvo XC90, Swedish suite on wheels

This second generation Volvo XC90 SUV is touted at the brand’s main driver for its current growth, posting strong demand across regions.

It is the best-selling Volvo model in the US market, all with good reasons.

It bagged several important awards, including the most recent SUV of the Year in the UK Car Awards.

The all-new Volvo XC90 had a good run with its predecessor. Since the first generation XC90 was introduced, it has been awarded with over a hundred international distinctions.

The All-New Volvo XC90 is headed for the right direction with a major leap in levels of refinement and luxury, paired with advanced safety and comfort for all its seven passengers.

Volvo takes pride in its craftsmanship and finish, which it considers to be an art in itself using only with the finest materials with unique details like a gearshift lever made of crystal glass from Orrefors, diamond-cut controls for the start/stop button and volume control, and ventilated front seats inspired by the human form.

The seats come with massage functions and four-way electric lumbar support.

The XC90 is available locally in two variants: the 225 hp D5 engine, and the more powerful 320 hp T6 engine.

The most distinctive exterior feature of the XC90 is its “Thor’s Hammer” LED headlights.

Inside, the tablet-like touch screen control console is an all-new in-car control system that is virtually button-free, and represents an entirely new way for drivers to control their car and access a range of Internet-based products and services designed for today’s millennials and tech-savvy owners.

Volvo XC60, iconic Swedish steed

The XC60 is a Volvo designed and built for all kinds of weather and roads. It is also the best-selling Volvo model globally in the first half of 2016 with 73,817 units sold.

It has two variants, with either the 190 hp turbodiesel D4 Drive-E or the more spirited 245 hp T5 engine with 8-speed automatic transmission.
The XC60 offers generous ground clearance and class-leading chassis design.

In driving the XC60, this trusty Swedish steed offers an agile and nimble alternative to a typical standard height sedan with matching supple and stylish interiors.

Inside, its meticulously crafted interior details are highlighted by its leather seats and walnut inlays.

A sophisticated infotainment system greets its occupants with a sound system befitting a premium vehicle.

In terms of innovation and safety, the XC60 is also the world’s first car that can stop itself.

Its City Safety system is set to be active at speeds up to 50 kph. The car automatically brakes if the driver fails to react in time when the vehicle in front slows down or stops, or if the car is approaching a stationary vehicle too fast.

Volvo V60 Cross Country, 4-wheel drive stud

Don’t let the V60 Cross Country’s rugged, individualist design fool you.

The V60 Cross Country’s adventurous nature and demeanor are starkly contrasted by a luxurious driving experience and a go-anywhere capability and attitude.

Its dynamic skid plates, bold fender extenders, and 18-inch alloy wheels make it the Swedish stud that it is.

With an increased ground clearance of 65 mm compared to the V60, the Cross Country’s off-road inspired construction offers unparalleled control on and off the road.

It is equally matched with an enhanced sporty driving experience, thanks to its torque vectoring technology and corner traction control.

It is powered by a 190-hp D4 engine based on Volvo’s Drive-E powertrain architecture, and like in other Volvo cars, it offers a no-compromise blend of power and fuel-efficiency.

The V60 Cross Country’s elegant and well-designed interior is matched with a premium sound system and supportive leather sport seats designed to take your on road and off road adventures to the next level.

Adding versatility to the passenger seating layout is its intelligent seating.

The rear seats can be folded down in three 40/20/40 segments, so that the rear 430 liters of load space can be supplemented easily and quickly.
