The Suzuki Super Carry Turbo has power and strength as well as carrying capability.

For owners of small- to medium-sized enterprises, last week’s launch of the all-new Suzuki Super Carry Turbo and Suzuki Philippines’ participation in the 15th Franchise and Business Expo held at the World Trade Center in Pasay City, presented a very tempting proposition.

“We are delighted to bring the all-new Super Carry Turbo to the Philippines in what we believe presents a great opportunity for us to assist in the development of emerging enterprises, which is a vital sector powering the country’s economic growth,” said Suzuki Philippines GM Shuzo Hoshikura.

He said the event, which showcased the all-new Super Carry Turbo pickup, created a unique opportunity for entrepreneurs to advance their operations by acquiring an inexpensive yet reliable micro-sized truck.

According to the Asian Development Bank, 96 percent of all businesses in Southeast Asia are SMEs, capable of contributing up to 53 percent of the region’s GDP.

To encourage further growth, SMEs need dependable vehicles. The all-new Super Carry Turbo marks the Japanese automaker’s entry into the commercial vehicle market.

Hoshikura said the company aims to fulfill the business needs of its customers, explaining the all-new Super Carry Turbo is a robust load carrying vehicle that is made to deal with large loads while offering efficiency and reasonable price.

Here are 10 reasons offered:

Price is right

The all-new Super Carry Turbo’s price tag of P479,000 is already attractive, if not within reach of even startup entrepreneurs.

However, this model could still be acquired through monthly payments. Subject to the participating bank’s approval, one needs to shell out P68,000 only as down payment, and then pay a monthly fee of P9,591 for five years.

Small size, drive anywhere

For those operating a startup or small business, the all-new Super Carry Turbo may be the right sized partner: it’s just 3.8 meters long, 1.562 m wide, and 1.883 m (about 6 feet 2 inches) tall.

This mini truck also has a minimum unladen ground clearance of 160 mm.

Perfect for narrow streets

Aside from its small frame, this mini truck has a wheelbase of just 2.11 m, a front tread of 1.345 m, rear tread of 1.33 m, and a minimum turning radius of just 4.3 m, which is comparable to most hatchback cars.

This means the all-new Super Carry Turbo will fit through most alleys. It is also road-friendly as it only has a curb weight of 865 kg and a gross vehicle weight of 1,600 kg.

Carries big loads

Don’t be fooled by its diminutive size. The all-new Super Carry Turbo’s cargo bed is 2.183 m long and 1.488 m wide (height is 300 mm) offering 3.25 sqm of space and a maximum load capacity of 740 kg. That’s almost 15 sacks of rice!

Turbo diesel power

The all-new Super Carry Turbo is powered by lightweight 800 cc (0.8L) DOHC powerplant that is equipped with Diesel Direct Injection System (DDiS), a technology consisting of common rail injection mechanism, fixed geometry turbocharger, as well as an intercooler.

This feisty engine is mated to a 5-speed manual.

Decent power

The 800 cc diesel engine churns out 32 hp (at 3,500 rpm) while delivering a maximum torque of 75 Nm (at 2,000 rpm).

Suzuki explained the all-new Super Carry Turbo is designed and developed based on detailed research and understanding of customer requirements.

Thus, it offers the best of both the worlds: power and strength as well as carrying capability.

Less trips to refuel

The all-new Super Carry Turbo’s compact, 2-cylinder turbo diesel engine delivers an astounding fuel efficiency of 22.07 kilometers per liter (at maximum speed of 80kph). Fuel tank has a 30L capacity.

Stable ride

The all-new Super Carry Turbo features rust-resistant galvanized steel. Helping provide a stable ride are the MacPherson struts at the front and rigid axle with leaf springs at the rear. They’re all supported by 13-inch tires with steel rims.

Better safety

The all-new Super Carry Turbo’s front wheels are equipped with ventilated disc brakes, while the rear wheels are equipped with leading and trailing drum brakes that features load sensing proportioning valves that control the brake fluid pressure from the master cylinder in response to the vehicle load, and thus prevents the rear wheels from locking up early.

Simple yet functional

The all-new Super Carry Turbo is eye-catching in an understated way. The front is clean and purposefully designed with horizontal lines at the bottom that convey stability.

The bold bumper represents ruggedness. This design concept is carried inside adding to the spaciousness of the passenger compartment.

There’s also ample legroom for both driver and co-driver who will definitely appreciate the multi-purpose storage spaces, lockable glove box, and bottle holder.

“The all-new Super Carry Turbo is a result of Suzuki’s extensive research of the light commercial vehicle market. This vehicle addresses the need for power, stability, ride and handling as well as fuel efficiency.

“Offering shorter turnaround time, more trips and more savings, this vehicle is set to change the way Filipino entrepreneurs operate their business. Indeed, the all-new Super Carry Turbo will bring in a revolution in the Philippines’ LCV market,” said Hoshikura.
