Chinese man buys Land Cruiser with sacks of loose change

Most people dream of buying their own car someday, but one man from northern China got his brand-new vehicle in the oddest way.

Using only sacks of small change and tiny denomination notes, the unidentified Chinese national bought a new Toyota Land Cruiser Prado valued at 400,000 yuan (P2,894,491).

According to local news outlet China Youth Daily, the man came up with staggering piles of coins ranging from 1 yuan to one jiao, or a tenth of a yuan.

The piles of money were reportedly so overwhelming that it took four members of the dealership in Zhengzhou, Henan province, 12 hours to count the stash.

“My hands are still twitching,” one employee described the daunting task.

The proud new car owner, whose cash came from customers of his flour shop, said he blew a tire coming over to the dealership due to the massive weight of the bags of change.

He had approached several car dealers to buy the four-wheel wonder, but they refused to accept his loose change as payment.

Losing hope, he tried to change the coins and small notes for bigger bills, but even banks refused to give in to his demand.

The man’s latest purchase is not the first vehicle he bought with small change, as he also previously purchased a a car amounting to 480,000 yuan (P3,473,389).  Khristian Ibarrola/rga
