Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd (FHI) has notified Motor Image Philippines of a recall, which relates to motor vehicle safety, affecting 659 units of 2010 – 2014 model year Legacy/Outback. If you own one of these cars, contact Motor Image Philippines.
The affected vehicles have been fitted with faulty front wiper motor bottom covers which may allow foreign objects or obstructions, such as dirt or mud, to enter into the internal parts of the windshield wiper mechanism. This may cause the windshield wiper to “park” at a higher position on the windshield. In that event, the wiper will continuously attempt to return to its original position and the continuous arc-discharge may cause the windshield wiper mechanism to overheat, which may in turn cause the part to melt and potentially pose a fire risk. This could happen without warning.
Subaru will replace the front wiper motor bottom covers with countermeasure parts.
