vw-golf-gts-jettaVolkswagen Philippines has been beefing up its Golf and Jetta lineup, and now introduces the latest additions: the Golf GTS wagon and new variants of the Jetta sedan.

vw-golf-gtsThe GTS expands the Golf literally, as its wagon body can swallow 605 liters of cargo with all seats up. When the split  rear seat is fully folded, it can take 1620 liters. The Golf GTS, aka the SportWagen, reportedly has the versatility of an SUV while being as fuel efficient and as fun to drive as a compact car.

The Golf GTS is powered by the 2.0-liter TDI turbodiesel engine with 150ps at 3500-4200 rpm and 340Nm of torque at 1750-3000rpm. Power is channeled through a six-speed DSG dual-clutch gearbox. Standard equipment includes bi-xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lights. The interior features leather seats, Fender premium audio system with subwoofer, power driver’s seat, panoramic sunroof, 148mm color screen infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity, remote switches on the steering wheel, ambient lighting, and keyless go access. Safety features include driver, passenger and curtain airbags.

The two Golf GTS variants are the Business Edition with all of the above features, and the Business Edition+, which adds adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, front assist system with emergency autonomous braking, and blind spot monitoring with rear traffic alert . The Golf GTS Business Edition starts at P1.35 million, with the Business Edition+ going for P1.4 million. The additional P50,000 to get the additional safety features is a very reasonable upgrade.

The Highline upgrades to 17″ alloys, and adds the Fender 8-speaker audio system, power driver’s seat, two-zone climate control, rain sensor, and front fog lamps.

The Business Edition adds bi-xenon lighting with LED daytime running lights and ambient lighting, while Business Edition+ adds the adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, front assist system with emergency autonomous braking, and blind spot monitoring with rear traffic alert .

The Jetta uses a similar powertrain: 2.0 turbodiesel with 150ps, paired with a 6-speed DSG gearbox.
