Toyota PH updates Wigo hatchback

Toyota Motor Philippines has refreshed its best-selling Wigo hatchback. The smallest car in Toyota Philippines’ now gets variable valve timing (VVT-I) on its 1.0-liter engine. The three-cylinder now delivers 66 ps and 89 Nm. It’s paired with a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic. Here are more details from Toyota:

New VVT-i engine

Toyota’s mini hatchback is now powered with a VVT-I engine for a more fuel-efficient drive. On top of that, the latest generation retains its stable and comfortable ride through an optimized suspension geometry calibration for a smooth and relaxing drive.

Revitalized exterior of the new Wigo

One can immediately conclude that compared to its previous model, the New Wigo parades a sporty and fun silhouette that speaks volumes. A re-energized look to its front bumper, grille & alloy wheels embodies a more dynamic image. The latest version also now possesses sleek projector-type headlamps with line guide and LED rear combination lamps for an edgier look. Moreover, the 2017 Wigo is furnished with rear reflectors and outside mirror integrated signal lamps for a more premium feel (not available for 1.0E M/T variant).

Design and Technology

Upon stepping inside the vehicle, the latest Toyota model shows off its redesigned interior with new seat patterns & door trims. Additionally, a more refreshing appearance has been granted on its multi- function and navigation-ready audio system. Moreover, with advanced features such as the new steering wheel switch, this specific trait provides effortless access to one’s music. (Steering wheel switch not available for 1.0E M/T.)

The popular vehicle still has one of the easiest ingress/egress in its category both from the front and rear seats. It now also possesses a rear center head rest for extra comfort.

Lastly, there is no compromise in safety here as all grades are still equipped with standard SRS airbags for both the driver and passenger and now, all options for the Wigo are armed with Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS). Additional safety features such as the seat belt warning & light remind warning have been granted here as well.

The new Wigo’s exterior comes in six (6) fun colors. Its newest shade, Orange Metallic definitely shows the energetic personality of the said model. The mini hatchback also still carries the Silver Mica Metallic, Gray Metallic, White, Black and Red color options.
