The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will be deploying over 600 traffic enforcers to ensure that traffic in Quezon City will not slow down to a crawl today due to preparations for President Rodrigo Duterte’s second State of the Nation Address (Sona).

Roy Taguinod, MMDA director for enforcement, said on Saturday that most of their 645 enforcers would be deployed around the Batasan area to facilitate traffic flow.

Taguinod added that motorists should avoid the IBP Road around noon as the Quezon City government would be closing it to give way to VIPs bound for the House of Representatives.

For motorists coming from Commonwealth Avenue (westbound), they can turn right on Fairlane, right on Dalia, then left on Chestnut and straight to Sauyo Road to Mindanao Avenue to their destination.

For those coming from SM Fairview or Robinsons, they can take Quirino Highway, then straight to Mindanao Avenue.

On the other hand, those bound for Fairview or Mindanao Avenue can turn right at Jordan Plains, straight to Quirino Highway and Mindanao Avenue.

According to the police, Commonwealth Avenue will remain open to traffic although three lanes will be set aside for protesters. – Jovic Yee
