Now on its 14th edition, the annual celebration of Bimmerfest is BMW Car Club of the Philippines’ (BMWCCP) biggest and most anticipated event.
The Bimmerfest was held last Aug. 13 at the Uptown Parade Grounds in BGC, Taguig City, and the event showcased various BMW models ranging from current models to classic and vintage BMWs.
Last year, BMW celebrated its 100th birth year, so aside from the wide range of BMW models ranging from the 1-series all the way to the 8-series, there were the crossover X models and sporty Z-series as well as some classic BMWs on display to celebrate the German marque’s automotive heritage.
Aside from Bimmerfest, the club also conducts monthly fun drives to different destinations in the Philippines while advocating safe and responsible motoring.
The club also organizes touring drives, track days and karting events under safe and controlled environments, and conducts driving clinics to educate members and participants on the physical limits of their vehicles and improve their driving skills while harnessing their vehicles’ performance to the fullest.
The origin of BMWCCP dates back to 2001 when a group of five like-minded and passionate BMW owners got together to form a club.
Meet-ups were very informal and casual, and after two years in 2003, they formally registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission and eventually secured formal recognition from the International Council of BMW Clubs in Munich, Germany, which is integrated under the Asian umbrella of the International Council of BMW Clubs.
Its club trustees are composed of the following: Manuel R. Reyes, Nini Pilao Valenzuela, Morrell O. Carandang, and Atty. Ericson O. Ang.
The mission of the club is to be the local brand ambassador of BMW. Being the officially recognized BMW Club, it uses the famed BMW roundel logo as part of the club’s logo design.
The club strives to give members total satisfaction and enjoyment through a total BMW ownership experience.
Last year, BMWCCP received the prestigious International Club of the Year Award by the International Council of BMW Clubs because of its various activities in promoting passion for the BMW brand as well as promoting safe and responsible motoring, while advocating on environmental protection and social responsibility.
Among its social responsibility advocacies include the club’s support for Earth Hour and charitable activities such as involvement and support for the Red Cross and the World Wildlife Fund.
The BMWCCP also supports an orphanage for abandoned children.
Service mobile
Also on display was the club’s BMW E90 service mobile. ACC-BMW Philippines turned over the BMW service mobile to BMWCCP president Atty. Ericson Ang, and it was the first time for the club to acquire its own service vehicle.
“We’ve named our service mobile Synergy, a nod to the combination of forces that delivers outstanding results exceeding the sum of its parts,” Ang said.
“That name symbolizes hope and faith in the BMW brand and the relationships behind it. Synergy was formally presented to the public on Aug. 13, 2017, at the BimmerfestPH, an annual gathering organized and hosted by the BMWCCP to celebrate and show the public a collection of BMW cars of different makes and model years—from the vintage to the classic and modern.
“This year, it was held at the upper ground parking of the Uptown Mall in Bonifacio Global City,” Ang said.
Bimmerfest Philippines would not have been possible without the support of co-presenters Shell V-Power and Shell Helix Ultra motor oil; major sponsors H&R, Bilstein, Hillsborough Car Spa, Dynalab Corporation, and Standard Insurance; official event partner It’s Happening Events; minor sponsors Federal Tires, 3K Battery, Baskin Robbins, Sbarro, Black Mamba Energy, Bravo Food Supplements, ROTA Wheels, Lifeline, Philippine Red Cross, Leder Interia, Tire Care Sealant, Karcher, AutoGard, Aguila Auto Glass, and Meguiar’s.
