Pioneer trucks introduces Dutch brand DAF trucks into the PH market
The business of importing and distributing commercial vehicles like trucks and heavy equipment is not a very glamorous job. However, it is a lucrative industry specially for a growing economy by like the Philippines. Based on combined reports from the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA), the third quarter of this year shows an impressive 14.1% increase compared with the same period last year.
Light and heavy duty truck buyers look for value, reliability, performance, maintenance cost and other long term ownership factors like availability of spare parts, capacity and fuel efficiency over looks, status symbol and features. With only a handful of brands in the market today, it allows these companies to thrive and remain competitive with enough room for big and medium-sized players to co-exist in the market.
One such company is Pioneer Truck Parts and Equipment Corporation, a family-run company that started from very humble roots in the auto parts district of Araneta Avenue and Banawe Street area of Quezon City. Pioneer Trucks expanded its operations from being a truck parts distributor to be an importer and exclusive distributor of famous truck brands like International Harvester, Kenworth, Peterbuilt and more recently Dutch truck brand DAF.
The owners of Pioneer Trucks held a facility tour with some members of the motoring media in its service center in Cabuyao, Laguna last week and Aaron Go, Managing Director of Pioneer Trucks leading the plant tour. “Pioneer is a family owned and operated import based company that wholesales and retails U.S. and European made truck and trailer parts that caters to the domestic logistics and transport of commercial goods,” he explains.
Its expansive facility includes a covered truck repair and maintenance yard measuring almost one hectare. “From windshield replacement, brake repair and engine overhaul or replacement, all major and minor jobs are done in this facility with our well trained personnel and our extensive inventory of truck parts and accessories,” adds Go. Pioneer Trucks is also the exclusive distributor of the Speed Limiter device, Pioneer also does installation of the device in-house or send mechanics to install the speed limiter device on-site depending on the client’s requirements.”We have already installed Speed Limiters to truck fleets of major logistics companies and truck manufacturers such as Isuzu Philippines Corporation,” reveals Go.
Pioneer Trucks announced its exclusive distributorship with DAF Trucks last April at the Manila International Auto Show 2017 (MIAS) and “DAF Trucks NV is a Dutch truck manufacturing company and a division of Paccar. Its headquarters and main plant are in Eindhoven. Cabs and axle assemblies are produced at its Westerlo plant in Belgium. Some of the truck models sold with the DAF brand are designed and built by Leyland Trucks at their Farington plant in Leyland near Preston, England,” says Go.
Pioneer has been in the trucking business for almost a decade and has seen the industry’s gradual growth down the years. “We are at the crossroads of our career here and the upward trend in the logistics industry is very encouraging. We will be here to provide the needs for the industry,” adds Go.
Pioneer also carries other brands for trucks and trailer parts such as PNW systems, JOST, Kenworth, and PACCAR parts and accessories. Their satellite showroom is located at their corporate headquarters in 341 G. Araneta Avenue, Baragay Santol, Quezon City. They have every part and accessory on display at their G. Araneta showroom.
