From the same group who organized the Manila International Auto Show 2006, the country’s biggest and only international auto show, came the recently-held the Cebu Auto Show 2006 at the Ayala Center Cebu. Touted as the South’s premiere motoring event, a fully air-conditioned tent pavilion was installed at the mall’s outdoor landscaped lagoon premises. Over 28,000 visitors trekked and braved the afternoon heat to visit the four-day Cebu Auto Show.
New models such as the Honda’s 8th generation Civic, Hyundai Santa Fe and Kia’s Rio Sedan made its public debut in the Visayas market.
Kia Motors held a mini fashion show and the launch of the Rio Sedan. All stocks of the Cebu-based dealer were sold out during the show. Kia Motor Philippines Marketing Manager Chut Velasquez believes that the sales of their Cebu dealership will substantially improve with the help of the just-concluded Cebu Auto Show.
The Hyundai Santa Fe, regarded as one of today’s most stylish mid-size sports utility vehicles, charmed the Cebuanos during the grand display at the Cebu Auto Show.
Other exhibitors were likewise encouraged with actual on-site sales and reservations made during the show.
On display were the latest models from Ford, GM, Honda, Hyundai, Isuzu, Kia, Nissan and Suzuki. Over 50 cars were displayed in the mall and tent pavilion including customized cars owned by Cebu’s motoring aficionados. A custom car show competition was held and led by veteran car show judge John Escobar who flew in from Manila for the occasion. Several categories were awarded including the coveted Best of Show Award.
Ayala Center Cebu was transformed into a haven for motoring enthusiasts. Indoor and outdoor exhibitions, show cars, sound-offs, celebrity appearances, and fashion shows were among the many highlights. Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia and Cebu Chamber of Commerce President Mr. Francis Monera was present to grace the opening of the show. Gov. Garcia welcomed the organizer’s initiatives to showcase the best of what the automotive industry has to offer in Cebu.
Last April, the highly successful Manila International Auto Show 2006 was held at the World Trade Center. The show drew a record 75,000 visitors during a four-day run. With the success and positive responses that were drawn from the show, the organizers are looking forward to a much bigger and more anticipated show for next year.
