It was an exciting day for Philippine superbike racing fans when last October 1st, Ducati Ph racer TJ Alberto on a Ducati Panigale1199R took the checkered flag in a dominating lead from start to finish against rivals in the premier class of Philippine Superbike Championship, taking the top spot in the Open, Expert and Intermediate class. Taking second place was his younger brother and the youngest superbike racer, Troy Alberto, also on a Ducati Panigale 1199R.
The Alberto brothers Troy and TJ capped the season with very impressive results starting from being in P1 and P3 respectively after qualifying time trials. This despite a very demanding race schedule for the elder Alberto, TJ, who had to fly back and forth from his races at the Campionato Italiano Velocita (CIV) in Italy and back here for the Philippine Superbike Championships.
The elder TJ was able to take the title of the 2017 PSBK champion in Intermediate class and just falling short of a few points from being the Season’s Overall Champion. The younger 16-year-old Troy Alberto, who just started racing over a year ago, took 3rd overall in the 2017 Intermediate class of the Superbike Nationals. Troy has consistently paced himself at the front pack of the race, taking podium finishes one after the other and even at times, posting faster lap times and finishing ahead of his older brother. These two brothers showed a promising racing career and has been leading and racing with veterans and more seasoned racers in the country with 10 to 15 years their senior.
